Chardonnay is the chameleon of the grape world, capable of producing diverse age-worthy dry wine styles ranging from crisp and light through to powerful and textured. Part of Chardonnay's charm is its versatility, meaning it's a popular choice for wine lovers everywhere.
From full-bodied, often oaky, with buttery textures in California to crisp, rich and tropical flavours found in Australia, a glass of Chardonnay is always sure to delight.
Cloudy Bay Chardonnay is one for connoisseurs and gastronomic adventurers: refined, poised and balanced. Painstakingly made using traditional techniques, it is a true ‘food wine’. Fruit from vineyards in the stony soils of Wairau Valley and the dense clay of the Southern Valleys work together to create a wine that marries ripe stone fruit and citrusy elegance.
Coldstream Hills is dedicated to Chardonnay, and the single vineyard range highlights the unique expressions cultivated in the Yarra Valley. This wine From Deer Farm is elegant and textural in style with great length of flavour and beautifully balanced juicy acidity. For lovers of the world's great Chardonnay, this is a wine to drink now or hold in the cellar for up to a decade.
The Coldstream Hills team has chosen the Chardonnay for this reserve wine from three select plots within the acclaimed Briarston Vineyard. This is translated into quality you can taste, with complex fruit and spice layers thanks to careful oak aging. This is a wine to enjoy now with substantial seafood dishes or to tuck away in the cellar for a few years.
The Hills Chardonnay has attractive notes of honeydew melon, white peach and white flowers. The palate is fine and balanced with juicy grape acidity, delicious stone-fruit flavours, texture and length.
The wine is fresh on the nose with aromas of white flowers, grapefruit and flint. A changing and complex wine of depth and concentration that with time in the glass reveals lemon curd, brioche and spent matchsticks. The palate is focussed, mouth-filling and long. The wine will metamorphose and take on complexity with age.
Fresh, crisp and pristine. A delightful combination of grapefruit, nectarine and zesty lemons. The depth and richness of fruit is in perfect tension with the tight, mineral acidity. A deliciously rich and refreshing wine
Brilliant pale straw to straw colour with a glimmer of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Aromas of pear and bees wax mix with lemon butter, faint cashew and spice. Rich pear, peach and honeycomb flavours have a creamy feel overlaying a background of bacon fat and spice. A dash of lemony acidity lends some freshness to the texturally full conclusion.
Pale-white, straw and hay. Clear and bright. Fresh bread and custard; green apples just picked, apple skin and apple strudel - cold. Aromatics and bouquet demonstrate the fine and also effortless balance between cool-climate chardonnay fruit and deft, demure oak’s distraction. The nose hints at richness but lurking so quietly in the background is honeydew and lotus flower and a secret citrus grove freshly rained upon. Clear clean striking lines of vibrant acidity around which lovingly cling peach, green apple, nectarine and melon fruit bursts. Concentration, then texture, and then richness at the very core. A swathe of just ripe fruit flavours return, then more acidity, then a long and lingering finish. As a glass of fine wine, it might seem effortless and easy to like, but there is a lot of wine in that one glass, and a lot to discover.
Complex nose with, pink grapefruit, white nectarine, spices and nougat aromas. Intense palate of lemon curd, baked pastry and nutty flavours. Wrapped up in Tumbarumba’s hallmark acidity which gives great drive and length to the wine.
Very pale straw with a green tinge. Tight and bright early picked peach and melon notes carried on a weighty palate, culminating in a fresh & crisp finish with the most interesting of cashewy oak nuances.
