Cienna is an exciting grape variety bred by the CSIRO Plant Industry by crossing Sumoll, a grape variety from Spain, with Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is made from Cienna grapes grown at our Mystic Park vineyard in the Murray Valley of north-west Victoria. In the glass, this wine is a vibrant ruby red colour. Aromas of fresh red berry fruit and a hint of spice. With fruit sweetness on the palate, it is rich and juicy with a refreshing light bubble to the finish.
This is a classic Rioja blend from northern Spain utilising a percentage of Graciano to deepen the colour and add another dimension of flavour to the Tempranillo. A core of rich plum and berry fruit is enhanced by lifted floral nots, hints of thyme and subtle earthy undertones. Oak maturation has delivered increased depth and complex of cedar, spice and cacao. For quality reasons this wine is unfiltered. Decanting is recommended.
