Wirra Wirra Vineyards

Wirra Wirra Vineyards is a historic winery located in McLaren Vale, South Australia, renowned for its rich heritage and commitment to crafting exceptional wines. Established in 1894 by the eccentric former state cricketer Robert Strangways Wigley, the winery was built from ironstone and nestled "amongst the gums," as its Aboriginal name suggests. In the late 1960s, visionary Greg Trott revitalised the winery, preserving its original cellars and expanding its vineyards to over 20 hectares, cultivating varietals such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Tempranillo, and Touriga Nacional.

Today, under the stewardship of winemaker Emma Wood, Wirra Wirra continues to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of McLaren Vale, including iconic labels like Church Block, The Angelus, and RSW. Visitors to the winery can experience its rich history through tours of the original ironstone cellars, enjoy tastings in the picturesque setting, and partake in events that celebrate the winery's legacy and dedication to quality winemaking.
