The first wine Tony De Lisio made was a 1997 Shiraz, which was heralded by Robert Parker Jnr as a 40-year wine. Well, halfway there in 2017 we decided to celebrate by making a 20th anniversary Merlot, using fruit from Mc Laren Vale and 100% French oak. The resulting LaTesta Merlot is the combined experience of 3 generations of wine making combined with a family history of over 500 years
This wine is deep red in colour, with some purple hues. Ripe berry and plum fruit aromas with notes of spice and pepper dominate the nose. On the palate, rich ripe blackberries and plums precede fine soft smooth tannins and a good length of fruit. Some vanillin and toast characters provide a well-balanced finish, yet soft, earthy finish.
Dark red with purple hues. Aromas of raspberry, plum and red cherries. Black currant and chocolate on the palate with subtle pepper and oak flavours rounding it out to a soft yet earthy finish. Will go well with red meat, cheeses or a vegan ravioli.
