Grenache, also known as Garnacha in Spain, is a versatile and widely planted red grape variety prized for its ripe fruit character, generous alcohol levels, and soft tannins. Typically producing medium- to full-bodied wines, Grenache is known for flavours of juicy red berries—especially strawberry and raspberry—along with spicy notes, hints of white pepper, and subtle herbal undertones.
It thrives in warm, dry climates and is a key component in many celebrated blends, such as those from the Southern Rhône (like Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and Spain’s Priorat region. On its own, Grenache can produce plush, approachable wines, though older vines and careful winemaking can result in wines of surprising depth and complexity. It also plays an important role in rosé production, particularly in Provence.
A juicy and bold palate with concentrated red and black fruits, spices and a smooth milk chocolate- like tannin create a beautiful balanced blend of two varietals.
Dandelion Vineyards Treasure Trove McLaren Vale Grenache 2019 is a rich and complex wine that showcases the unique terroir of the McLaren Vale region. This vintage is made from Grenache grapes grown in the sandy soils of the vineyard, which contribute to the wine's depth and structure.
Intense medium colour red with purple edge. Ripe blueberry, liquorice, dark cherry characters, graphite and violets. Supple, mouth coating, fleshy, lovely extract, balanced and calm.
A glass coating opaque purple it offers a nose of wood smoke, spices, pepper, blue and blackberry liqueur. It is lush on the palate with mouth filling fruit with tonnes of blue and black fruit flavour and enough structure to evolve for several years and a long lingering finish.
A recent addition to our HEAD RED range is this Grenache. Sourced from four very special old Barossa vineyards on different soils, grown and picked specifically for bottling as a straight Grenache. Utterly delicious and ready for immediate consumption.
