Grenache, also known as Garnacha in Spain, is a versatile and widely planted red grape variety prized for its ripe fruit character, generous alcohol levels, and soft tannins. Typically producing medium- to full-bodied wines, Grenache is known for flavours of juicy red berries—especially strawberry and raspberry—along with spicy notes, hints of white pepper, and subtle herbal undertones.
It thrives in warm, dry climates and is a key component in many celebrated blends, such as those from the Southern Rhône (like Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and Spain’s Priorat region. On its own, Grenache can produce plush, approachable wines, though older vines and careful winemaking can result in wines of surprising depth and complexity. It also plays an important role in rosé production, particularly in Provence.
The wine has great floral notes of strawberry fruit and fennel. The palate is medium bodied and fleshy, with more of the strawberry fruits and creamy texture, and finishes with fine fruit tannins. A great wine for immediate drinking, with a wide range of foods including tomato based pasta dishes, vegetarian fare and charcuterie.
Makers’ Project Shiraz Grenache was pressed from its skins early before the end of fermentation. This technique perfectly captures the plush, fresh fruit flavours, creating a soft, juicy wine with a velvety texture and a long, silky-smooth finish.
A soft, medium-bodied blend that’s deliciously spicy, with layered flavours of cherry, plum and raspberry. A bright, juicy style intended to be enjoyed while young and fresh to preserve fruit vibrancy.
