Cowra Estate

Cowra Estate is a pioneering family-owned winery nestled in the heart of the Cowra wine region in central New South Wales. Established in 1973, it holds the distinction of planting Australia's first Chardonnay vineyard in 1972, helping to ignite the region's Chardonnay boom. The vineyard thrives on mineral-rich basalt and alluvial loam soils, enriched by decaying granite and nourished by the fresh waters of the Lachlan River, which contribute to the intensity and flavour depth of their wines.

Cowra Estate is particularly known for its expressive Chardonnay—featuring tropical fruits, lemon-butter notes, and minerality—as well as its cool-climate Malbecs, which deliver plush blue fruit flavours, cocoa hints, and velvety tannins.
